Vertically-integrated magnetic susceptibility maps (VIS)

Back to Magnetic field

VIS estimates (2025)

  • Reference: TBD Sebera et al. (submitted)
  • Based on CHAOS-8-1
  • Given on a reference radius r=6371.2 km
  • Download VIS:
    • VIS solution 1: core (degrees 1-20) and lithospheric fields (degree 21-180 used), ASCII (longitude,latitude,VIS,VIS-VIS2019)
    • VIS solution 2: experimental, core and lithospheric fields overlap in degree (the fields separated in the spatial domain, see Sebera et al. 2022), ASCII (longitude,latitude,VIS,VIS-VIS2019)
  • See also our poster from ESA LPS 2025 in Vienna https://space.asu.cas.cz/~sebera/lps25/

VIS estimate (2019)

  • Reference: Sebera et al. (2019)
  • Based on CHAOS-6-x2 core (degrees 1-20) and lithospheric fields (degree 21-120, note CHAOS-6 is provided up to 110 now)
  • Given on a reference radius r=6371.2 km
  • Download VIS: ASCII (longitude, latitude,VIS) or .mat file
